Animals have always had a way of gaining my full attention, pulling strongly on my heart and mind. The unconditional love they offer, in a world that often seems to give so little never fails to reach me on a very deep level. Companionship without complications.... There is fullness in our time spent with our pets that lends moments of gentle joy to our lives. We share conversations without words that leave us, somehow, feeling more understood and at peace. As an artist, I am drawn to them for inspiration and try to express these feelings in the pieces I create. I count it as a great success if you find yourself smiling or laughing as you enter into the experience with me.
Over the past year I have started to reflect on my life as a mother, wife and friend. You can see in my new pieces the relationship between the woman and her need to be a stable foundation for her family and her need to express herself as an individual. It is a balancing act that I wouldn't trade for anything.
